The apartment in these pictures, consisting of a penthouse on two levels, is located halfway up the coast in the Potrero Hill area, in a low, rather anonymous building, which primarily features a breathtaking view of the bay, thanks to its strategic location.

Sidell Pakravan Architects, who were responsible for the renovation, chose to animate the heights of the ceilings, thanks to the skillful use of different materials. This way, the different areas are delimited by large volumes that define the spaces and heights of the respective zones.

Parquet floors, solid wood panels and melamine panels with a wooden finish create an interesting effect, drawing the boundaries of the relevant areas, with a continuous line following the outlines of a long book-wall as opposed to a counter-island overlooking the kitchen, and continuing up to the upper floor, where there is a living area with a large terrace overlooking the bay of San Francisco, in the distance.

The “box” created, thanks to the skillful use of melamine panels on the walls and ceiling, provides a cosy ambience, the core of the house, as opposed to the white of the passageway, leading to the sleeping and dining areas.
