Artworks are the real centerpieces of this apartment, designed by architect Fernanda Marques in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a couple of collectors. The collection, which is growing over time, features works by various artists, including James Kudo, Marcia Xavier, Betina Vaz, Estela Sokol, Guilherme Dable, Arthur Lescher and Laura Vinci.
The interior architecture is designed to let the artworks live freely in the ambiences.
A wide open space houses different functions, separated by large full-height pivoting doors, so one can choose the desired layout of the space, depending on the moments, social, private, or relaxing.
Alongside the artworks, the space is dotted with iconic pieces of contemporary design, such as the chaise longue Terminal One by Jean-Marie Massaud, the Papilio armchairs by Naoto Fukasawa, and the P22 armchairs armchairs by Patrick Norguet.
Artworks and design icons are the only additions to these rooms, featuring walls deliberately left empty, plastered or coated with melamine panels, which create storage units for daily objects, thus creating a perfect tidy environment, to let the artworks take the stage.
Doors and melamine panels hide objects and functions, such as the kitchen or bedrooms, connected by passageways which appear and disappear as needed. The play of full and empty volumes is highlighted by the lighting design, which provides direct and indirect light through the correct arrangement of the lighting spots.
The final result is a pleasantly spacious ambience, brightened by the light and white lacquered wooden finishings of the ceilings, floors, walls and sliding walls, made even brighter by the light flooding in from the large terrace with swimming pool.
